blue horn

FOR ASH
by Eve Packer

the blue
horn
is tired, can hardly
hold neck, body,
bell--
how many cities, towns,
rivers falling thru
sun to
fire--wants to sit
in garden, rest
feet, swim
cool waters: get up,
pack up, pick up
yr heart, mouthpiece, strap,
play, play on--
dark
falling, then
the light, hotels, rooms, women
tunes, trains, planes,
places, faces,
dont remember--
dont want to remember--want
to remember but dont
know, 'stayed here

last night,
on the way to
somewhere
sure be glad to
leave'---where do

we go next,
which tree,
flower, river, street
holds my
name?
